Here is some of my projects so far.
Grannys Tecup Carousel.
I started on this while I was with my family, watching over my granny in the days before her passing. She was one of those women who held the world together. A clever lady with an abundance of energy and a love for family that moved beyond all else. She loved tea, so much so she went to china to see the teaplantations all on her own, or well, with a group of retired tourists., but still, on her own. She barely spoke english but somehow got by on a few words and gestures. My granpa and her had made plans to travel the world together when they retired, but as he passed decades before her, she went about those plans on her own, bringing granpa along for the ride, watching over her as I am sure he always did. She brought me tea home from China, some of the best I have ever had.
Growing up, most of my foundest memories of my granny is sitting at her table in mornings and afternoons, watching the landscape outside the big windows of their holiday home in the country, drinking Earl Grey out of her teacups made of tempered glass. We both loved early mornings, and mornings should start with a hot cup of Earl Grey and talks about life and this world we live in.
So making this Tea Carousel for the kids playground project at school, at that time, seemed a suiting way to honor her memory. Celebrating two of her favorite things, tea and children.
